Further to the declaration by the Sugar Insurance Fund Board on 18th December 2008 of crop 2008 being an event year with respect to all factory areas and our communiqués of 20th February 2009 and 03rd March 2009, we are pleased to inform insureds that all compensable losses in sugar production due to insured risks have been made good by the SIFB, exception to a few cases beyond the control of the SIFB.

Welcome to the Sugar Insurance Fund Board (SIFB) of the Republic of Mauritius

This website is intended to provide handful information to insureds (planters, metayers and millers) of the Sugar Industry and to the public at large an insight of the Sugar Insurance Fund Board.

The Fund set up by Government in consultation with the sugar producers operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance & Economic Development and is funded entirely by insureds of the Sugar Industry. The Sugar Insurance Fund Board provides covers to all insureds for losses in sugar production arising from inclement weather such as cyclones, drought and excessive rainfall. The Fund also operates a fire insurance.
